Impact of the AKM Factory Fire on Deliveries of Micro Crystal Products

Micro Crystal would like to inform its customers about the possible impact concerning the availability of AKM ICs destined for the TCXO and oscillator markets.

The fire outbreak at the Asahi Kasei Microsystem (AKM) semiconductor factory in Nobeoka city (Japan) on October 20, 2020, has caused another round of disruption of the global semiconductor supply chain during this already difficult time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Nobeoka plant of AKM is known for the production of high-end DACs/ADCs IC components for superior audio devices but also for production of TCXO and oscillator ICs.

Above all, Micro Crystal is greatful that no injuries have occurred among the 400 employees who were evacuated. Secondly, we would like to reassure our customers and let them know that no extra lead-time will be added to the current programs, as Micro Crystal is not using AKM components as part of its product lines (Real-Time Clock (RTC) Modules, kHz Oscillators, MHz Clock Oscillators, VCXOs and OCXOs).

As always, we are commited to providing superior products and services to you as part of our continued support of your business. Do not hesitate to contact our team at Micro Crystal to request more information and to learn more about our product portfolio.
